FLASH HEADER

ADD YOUR OWN IMAGES TO THE FLASH HEADER

In the theme folder, there are 3 images in the /images folder.  Just replace these 3 images with your own images (you can have however many you want, but they must be named header1.jpg, header2.jpg, header3.jpg header4.jpg etc. etc. and they must be sized 1000×300).  Next, open the footer.php file in the theme folder and edit line 23, so that the statement matches the number of header images you have.  Once you have updated this footer.php file it is important that you refresh the cache in your browser, or you may not see any changes in the flash movie.

ADDING YOUR LOGO TO APPEAR INISDE THE FLASH HEADER

If you want to do away with the whole upper logo field and just have the flash header at the top of page, with your logo png over the top of (or embeded within) the flash header then delete the following text from the style.css file (delete only the text in green highlights, and remember to leave the } on the end or it will mess everything up!)

You then need to go into the footer.php file and uncomment line 28.  By uncomment, I mean remove the // at the from of this line.  Once you remove the // you are allowing that line of code to do its job.

You can control the positioning of your logo within the flash header by going to the footer.php file in your theme folder and editing lines 25 & 26 …. and to start you on the right track, an ‘x’ value at about 20 pixels will position the logo to the extreme left of the header.

SWOP THE LOGO FOR PLAIN TEXT IN THE FLASH HEADER

Go into the footer.php file, and “comment out” line 28, as per the instructions embedded in the footer.php file.  By “comment out” I mean adding // to the front of a line to render it defunct.  When you comment out line 28, you are switching off the logo, and alowing the title of your blog to show in Text format.

REMOVE BOTH TEXT & LOGO FROM THE FLASH HEADER

You may want just a clean flash header without text or Logo, so in addition to commenting out line 28, go down to line 32, and as per the instructions on line 33, comment out line 32, and uncomment line 34.  This will give you a clean flash header.

  1. Hello Judd,
Thanks for your help with the logo situation I was messing around with the flash header and the size as you know is currently 1000×300 is there a way I can make the images 1000×500 so they are not so much of a panoramic? Thank you for your help!

  3. I was able to make the place where the images are held the new size of 1000×500 and I changed the size of the saved files as well to the new size, however when you open the blog you will see the images are not filling the space there is a black bar that appears above the image and below the logo. I see a flash file in the zip folder but do not have any program to alter this if this is what needs to be changed? Let me know your thoughts thank you

  6. I’m afraid you need adobe flash to manipulate the header movie and it’s dimensions. I tried doing this way back and hit many walls – I don’t have flash or the first idea about it so am not much help in this area :(
